The Northern Ireland care division operates 75 care homes, including nine bought from the failed Southern Cross organisation, and provides nursing and residential care beds across the province with around 4,500 staff. The Northern Ireland division also manages eight homes in Wales, also rescued after Southern Cross’s demise.
The majority of the company’s care home portfolio provides permanent residence services for the frail and elderly but also includes convalescence and respite services. Many of the homes also provide specialist care and support services for people with learning difficulties, mental health problems, dementia and complex behaviours presentation, alcohol-related brain disorders and physical disabilities.”
